Marshmallows of happiness

The great British philosopher, Bertrand Russell once said –

To be without some of the things you want is an indispensable part of happiness.

I would argue that instead of the word happiness you could just as easily substitute words like, success, the good life or general flourishing. What do you think?

And if you don’t believe in philosophy, but prefer hard empirical evidence, read about the Marshmallow test by Stanford Psychology professor Walther Mishel here – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_marshmallow_experiment

Or watch a short clip of it here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QX_oy9614HQ
