Most Americans are familiar with the phrase, “The pursuit of happiness”. Immediately one thinks of the United States Declaration of Independence where this phrase is described as one of three unalienable rights. In other words, each and every one of us has the right to engage in those pursuits which we believe will bring us happiness. On this line of thinking, happiness is a goal that can be sought after.
I agree with Jefferson that happiness certainly is worth pursuing. Still, in keeping with earlier posts that have played around with various proverbs to gain new perspectives, I’d like to do the same with this one.
How does this sound? The happiness of pursuit.
